th century with his bold « tomboy hairstyle » that was adopted by everyone in Paris.
During the 1920's, Antoine started the " tomboy hairstyle " fashion that was adopted by every Parisian girls, but also by great celebrities like the fashion designer Coco Chanel.
As he became famous, Antoine saw well know figures coming to his salons. He did the hair of Sarah Bernhardt, Eleonora Duse, Joséphine Baker, Brigitte Bardot, and even Edith Piaf. Rubbing shoulders with these celebrities, Antoine became The hairdresser in Paris.
He also created a cosmetic house, named after him and trained famous hairdressers such as Alexandre de Paris
Lightning advancement
Antoine Cierplikowski was born in Poland in 1884. When he was a teenager, with only 0,76€ in his pocket he decided to go to Paris. In 1901, then 17 years old, he worked in a wig factory in Paris. Then, height years later, he was doing the hair of the French actress Eva Lavallière just before one of her show.
In 1912, he opened his first hairdressing salon, « salon Antoine » in 5 Cambon street, in Paris. And from 1925, he started opening more salons in Cannes, Marseilles, then the US, Canada and Australia. In 1945, there was 121 " salon Antoine " all around the world.
Antoine, the uncontested forerunner of contemporary hairdressing, died in 1976 in his country of birth.
