The backstage manager becomes the coach of all these professionals. They might be a lot behind the scenes: a hairdresser, a make-up artist per girl for the huge fashion show like Chanel or Dior for example… in brief, about fifty persons to manage !Furthermore, the fashion shows are always late so the backstage manager but also handle the stress, the different arrivals of the models who run from one fashion show to another… already styled and with make-up from the previous fashion show !
All has to be undone and redone to respect the check list. However, the backstage ambiances are often good because it is a microcosm where everybody know each other. The famous competitions between hairdressers and make-up artist is more about who is the first to start.
The role of a backstage manager is to unite the professions so that everything is all right with an ultimate goal: subliming each model, they are the spokesperson of the designer and of the message tendency of the season.
