  • The success of the prevention involves the communication and the information. This is the conviction of the foundation L’Oréal and UNESCO which created a program to support the prevention of AIDS. This year, to embody the program Coiffeurs contre le Sida, Lara Fabian and her hairdresser David Lucas will be the spokespersons of this exercise of awareness-raising.

    Each year, more than 15 000 hairdressers are mobilized on the spot to make prevention to general public against AIDS chatting with their clients. In the salons, they will communicate and will play an active role against that disease by telling their clients about the importance of the prevention. We wanted to know more about the wings of this Saturday 30 November 2013 and it is Odile Amselek, part of the communication team of L’Oréal Professionnel who will receive us at 14 rue Royale, Paris.

    You are responsible for carrying on each year the commitment of L’Oréal Produits Professionnel for this day Coiffeurs contre le Sida, what is the result of this action after seven years?
    We can notice a real passion of the profession around that event. The salons partners are faithful to that meeting. They really want to commit themselves, to feel useful to the society and to play another role than hairdresser. The rare intimacy of these professionals with their clients enables them to broach serious matters.

    What is the stake for these hairdressers?
    Precisely, there is no other stake than the civil involvement. It is an act of pure generosity of a whole profession. The move is strictly voluntary!

    Concretely, how can the debate appear in a hairdressing salon?
    First, the hairdressers are trained and can use many tools to create the event. Posters, tee-shirts for the teams, quizz, everything is done in the salons to arouse questions with the hairdressers so that the clients can exchange on that issue. 5000 salons are partners of the event in France and 36 countries are united around that action ! Furthermore, since 2012 famous persons lend their image and are committed with us to optimize this awareness-raising campaign. On our posters, in the official clip of this year, it is Lara Fabian and his hairdresser David Lucas who will be our spokespersons.

    We also wanted to know the opinion of a committed hairdresser in this international operation, Franck Provost, thanks to his franchise network, he can transmit this preventive message to many clients:

    "It is necessary that everybody is mobilized against that plague. For me and as a business leader, I think that we should fight and help the research in any manner. Provoking a dialogue hairdresser-client on the subject is an opportunity to sensibilize many persons".
