I've tested for you : Sephora's French Manicure kit
-
I am a manicure fan and as I don't have much money to spend on beauty products, my family circle advised me to use Sephora's products. The French manicure kit is, as they said, easy to use and cheap. Curious, I went to one of their store and I bought one. Here is my experience ! First of all, the price : 20,90 Euros, it seems to me that is a bit expensive for a manicure kit, most of all because of its size and what it contains. But I've rarely been disappointed in Sephora's products. Once at home, I decided to open it, and I saw that everything in it is “small” but interesting.
In the kit there are :
A nail file A nail polisher block A cuticle remover and cuticle growth Three nail polishes, natural shade, white and transparent (fixating) 50 stencils. While I was reading the instructions, I discovered that stencils are used to apply white nail polish (on the end of the nail) without overflowing. It is written that the manicure is done in four steps :
Step 1 : Prepare the nails, with the polisher and nail file. Step 2 : Apply the white nail polish on the end of the nail, with the stencils. Step 3 : Apply natural nail polish. Step 4 : Apply fixating nail polish, or “top coat”.Let's try it!
Apply nail polish on
Preparing your nails, that's the easy part. If you don't know how to do it, you can read the article written by Liloo Sevan “How can you succeed your manicure at home?”.
The next part, is a bit more tricky. In deed, applying the white nail polish is not easy, even with the stencils. I drew the lines as well as I could. Once you have experience, it gets easier, cleaner and more precise. We can play with the number of layer we apply to get a more darker colour, which is kind of nice. When my nails were dry, which took some time, I applied the fixating nail polish. Revelation !The “Top Coat” will become my best manicure ally, as it fixes the nail polish, smooths it and brings brightness too.
Verdict
Satisfied! Since I bought it, I practised, and now my French manicures are perfect (when I let my nails grow of course). For me, it was a return on investment, because despite the nail polishes small size, you can use them a lot. And as far as the rest of the kit is concerned (nail file, polisher and cuticle growth) they can be used any time.
So, are you convinced ? Don't hesitate to react if you have tested it, I'm curious to know about your experience !
