  • Romaric Andreux what can you say about the hairdressing curriculum in 2015 ?

The training of the hairdressers is unavoidable and one must follow the national education program to obtain the diploma, framed by a professional “reference point”. This compulsory passage promotes the learning of the hairdressing bases but DON’T prepare to the life a leader or a salon manager. We remained on an orientation said to be a dead end job which doesn’t result in fulfillment or pride necessary to a personal and a professional development.

Why do you say that fulfillment is not an easy thing ?

Well it is linked to the management of the salons ! Few managers can promote the self confidence of the colleagues and few of them can create the conditions of motivation. But once again this is normal because we’ve always favored the artistic expression than business. However, nowadays, to run a hairdressing salon, you must use a number of tools. Otherwise, it never works !
Today, we must know that we must reverse the school priorities and put in place the business development in the training program. You must know that today, if you want to retain customers, you need :

    • An attractive company
    • A welcoming team
    • Adapted and professional services.

At that point, we still don’t refer to professional skills…

But what do you offer apart from the technical training ?

The CPNEFP - Commission Paritaire Nationale pour l’Emploi and the Formation Professionnelle - created a Certificat de Qualification Professionnelle CQP (Professional qualification certificate). This is the amendment N 20 of the hairdressing collective agreement reference level III for the exams. A baccalaureate + II.
Aware of that certification, the hairdressing school of Lyon implemented the means necessary to access to that training.

Could you tell us more about that CQP ?

We have two main fields: the human management and the business management.

    • Regarding the first point, one acquires the skills necessary to the development of a company in team considering at the same time its manager profile.
    • Regarding the second one, we focus on the operational management and on the increase of the turnover.

The whole thing is organized in the basis of six units :

    • Recruiting, framing, managing a team
    • Defining the style of management
    • Organizing the work
    • Communicating in the company
    • Supervising the activities of the salon
    • Managing the commercial part

Who are the teachers in charge of that specific course ?

The commitment of the school is to solicit active contributor in the hairdressing sector and who can transmit their know-how. The team :

Cyrille HASSAM, supervisor for l’Oréal Professionnel, development manager group Coste, independent coach & consultant.

Marie DEVANZ, HR Dessange & Camille Albane Lyon.

Romaric ANDREUX, sales Manager in mass distribution, then for the group Coiffidis.

Remember that you need, 10 months, that is to say 240 hours to reach the Holy Grail of the future top manager ! Training partly funded by the AGEFOS.
