On 31 December 2015, this is the most festive night of the year. Some of us stay at home or invite people at home but tens of millions of people prefer going out to celebrate New Year’s Eve. At the restaurant, in a cabaret, a nightclub or a concert hall. Focus New Year's Eve.

It is wise to announce that in France, the Paris city hall wants the New Year's Eve 2016 to be organized on the Champs Elysées. Very often, because of excesses, la préfecture de police would remind that the use of fireworks is prohibited during the end of the year celebrations. In order to be sure that the night on 31 December is gonna be all right, the glass bottles are prohibited from 20h to 5h on the Champs, Trocadéro and Champ-de-Mars. Remember that the people who are seriously intoxicated risk a passage in a drunk tank and a tax up to 138 Euro.
After this not really jovial information let’s talk about a few Christmas traditions which have in common the date and the hope of a new beautiful year !
Spanish people are in search of luck and prosperity. The most important tradition : the famous twelve grapes of luck. At midnight, each Spanish people must have prepared in front of them twelve grapes they have to swallow one by one during the 12 strokes which announce the new year. If it is respected, luck, success and prosperity will be at the program 2016.
The Australian New Year’s Eve is very famous too. Sydney is the second greatest city in the world, after Auckland, in New Zealand. This is one of the greatest world manifestations which attracts each year 1.2 million participants. In the great Sydney harbor, in the heat of the austral summer, the boats are illuminated and make circles in the water all night long.
Other country other tradition. In Peru, in each house, it is common that night, to make a model made of straw and rag. It is dressed with old clothes which will not be worn anymore then it is placed in front of each home. These models represent the year which just passed. All these models burning at the same time illuminate each city.
In Canada, better not be sensitive to the cold to respect “ the polar bear swim “ which consists in going into the lakes, into the icy waters, about 0°C…
The traditions can be different but this night is the occasion to look like... a million bucks and to wish the best for the coming year.
