Olivier Sittoni, creator of Coiffure Beauté Méditerranée opens us to Livecoiffure to talk about this professional event gathering live shows, workshows and 1000m2 stands. Zoom on this event taking place on next 13th and14th March at the Palinéo in Aix en Provence.

Livecoiffure.com: Why did you create the Coiffure Beauté Méditerranée?
Olivier Sittoni : I’ve been working 10 years in musical programming at Universal Music, I was in charge to receive artists, showcase, after show… I’ve always loved everything in relation with art! Little by little, I was knowing people in this world and having relations and networks in hairdressing,
I adopted my artistic and commercial know-how to the aesthetics world. I had this idea because there was no event like that in the Mediterranean region twelve years ago. This then worked thanks to the word of mouth. And 12 years later, we don't need to do advertisement, the hairdressers and the aesthetics professionals are there and we don’t need to look for them. -
Livecoiffure : Could you explain us how this event is gonna take place?
Olivier Sittoni : This professional event consists of several spaces : An exhibition part where you can find 1000 square meters stands and sale spaces : manufacturers, providers, franchisers and services, wholesalers, schools and training centers.
There is also a show part during which national and international teams perform but also big houses! The show area takes place on stage where professional hairdressers perform a real show or fashion shows and conferences, this is the opportunity to discover a new program! Come and see the show, there are 1200 available seats. The event is for the professionals but the general public can also come, after all Aix-en-Provence is a very fashion city!Livecoiffure.com: How do you choose the schools and the professionals who can participate to the competition?
Olivier Sittoni : We don’t choose, we send information in the whole south region and any school can enroll in this competition. We simply send a booklet each year. Schools rather prefer participating to the pedagogic part than to the independent competitions.
They learn a lot during the workshops! The competitions are for any levels : hairdressers, students(CAP, BP) to do haircuts, hair colors or buns.Livecoiffure.com: Could you tell us about the “Workshop” area and the “stage” area?
Olivier Sittoni : There is an inarguable difference between both! The Workshop area is composed of stands where little trainings are given.
The hairdressers do their training in direct and they explain their know-how for each step, their way of proceeding, the gestures with the scissors, it’s very technical! The workshops are there to understand the tendencies and to discover new product. The Show area takes place on stage, it is something more magical, with glitters, more spectacular!Livecoiffure.com: How do you choose and proceed to ask your stars to come at your event?
Olivier Sittoni : 12 years career! [laughter] Seriously, it is partly true, the reputation came thanks to my serious accumulated work. For this edition, we have the chance to receive big houses.
These big brands trust us and we try each time to go after “the top row”.
