Portrait of a hairdresser: Pierre Mollicone, International Ambassador of the brand Davines
Liloo Sevan
Pierre Mollicone, who are you? Can you describe us your career path as an hairdresser ?
Who am I ? Difficult to answer that question ! However, I feel more comfortable with my professional path.
I was born in a family of hairdressers; I had a traditional apprenticeship in Paris where I remained until the age of 22. I then, opened my first salon in 1984 in Montargis, a second one in 1997 in Fontainebleau then I move out in another place in Montargis in 2011. La Suite was born from that change of address?
Yes, I was able to develop on 300 m2 what I like defining as a place to live in. Our perfect situation at the heart of the city, place Mirabeau, receives several activities under the same roof which makes that salon very atypical. It is of course a hairdressing place but also a clothing shop held by my wife Valérie.
She proposes very fashion collections which she imports from Berlin, Milan. We also have a bar and a beautiful terrace which becomes a café restaurant since the very first rays of sunshine. How to define the style Mollicone ?
After my Parisian period, I worked six months in Vidal Sassoon in London. There, I have gained the rigor of the structure, the discipline of the solid geometry.
From my passage in Rome with M. Valentino, I became filled the Latin energy. I developed my last with Jacques Moizant, famous Parisian hairdresser who opened to me the doors of the fashion shows, of the magazines. I discovered another profession: studio hairdresser! Rubbing shoulders with Paco Rabanne, Sophia Loren… the top!
The mix of my experiences resulted in the Mollicone style. You are an international ambassador of the brand Davines, what is the philosophy of that brand and what are the benefits of these products for your clients ?
First of all, it is an Italian brand founded in Parma in 1983 by the family Bollati.
Its particularity is the creation of quality products insisting on durable beauty. Davines teaches people to take care of them but also of the environment. Eco-responsibility, recycling, protection of the nature are the key criteria which touch my clients. The women especially like our real haircolors without ammonia and the long lasting effects, the shine and the transparence can always be seen.
The natural essences –cold-pressed in copper pots – are also the best of the ranges of haircares. What does mean your ambassador status ?
It is simple, I’m part of an international artistic team, led by Angelo Seminara World Artistic Director Davines and his colorist Eduardo Palardo !
Just that, it’s crazy. But concretely, I create collections according to the discussions we all have with the DA. Then, these tendencies travel around the world as shows and events.
