A Haute Couture Event Hosted at the Palm Beach in Cannes
-
#yt:RTARytDfoCk The fashion designer, Denis Durand, will present his new collection on the 28th of March at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes. For the last 20 years this couturier has been spoiling us with highly elegant and classy evening dresses and wedding gowns. Let’s take a look at his career path.
His grandfather is a renowned weaver from Lyon, France. Having been born amidst glamorous silks and textiles, Denis Durand was in the prime position to make a very promising start in the world of fashion. Already as an adolescent he felt greatly attracted to the world of fashion; his first steps were made in the field of hair styling. He rapidly changed course and joined the fashion-design school of the French ‘Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture’ where he integrated the cutting and pattern making techniques of Guerlavigne. For the following seven years he was Dominique Borg’s costume maker; his creations for the film ‘Camille Claudel’ were so fabulous that his efforts were rewarded with the César Award for Best Costume Design!
In the 1990s, Denis Durand switched direction again. Back in Lyon, he collaborated with the designer, Gérard Baumann, and launched the Denis Durand Couture showroom. Since then, Denis has settled in Cannes; the city that captured his heart. He conceives sophisticated and one-of-a-kind evening and weddings gowns. Every year his creations adorn several actresses mounting the famous steps of the ‘Palais des festivals’ during the Cannes film festival.
31 new outfits will be presented at his annual fashion show this 28th of March: 15 daywear ensembles, 15 eveningwear looks, and as the cherry on top, the bride. But that’s not all that is to be expected. A gift, befitting this grandiose event, will be awaiting the guests; namely, the perfume ‘Denis Durand Couture’ that has been developed together with the renowned perfumer, Micallef. This oriental woodsy fragrance evokes femininity and sensuality; the discreet bottle is shrouded in black handmade lace.In order to ensure that the models’ hair-styles are as beautiful as they could possibly be, the designer has remained true to his long-standing partner, Christine Margossian – awarded the title of best worker of France (Meilleur Ouvrier de France) and L’Oréal Professional brand Ambassador. LiveCoiffure will be present backstage, where we will be reporting to you on this event from as close to the catwalk as one can get.
