Over the last two days of the festival we have been lucky enough to enjoy the screening of, among other films, Un Château en Italie from Valeria Bruni Tedeschi (the only woman in the competition) and Wara No Tate from Takashi Miite.
However, the cameras were all trained on Guillaume Canet and his first American production:
Blood Ties. He appeared in the midst of a prestigious team including
Billy Crudup, Clive Owen, Mila Kunis
and his partner, Marion Cotillard. The red carpet was a lesson in beauty with the stunning
Milla Jovovich – styled by
Dessange – and
Marion Cotillard showing just what an amazing profession hair-styling is with a superb French twist chignon and plenty of volume on the top of her head.
We also noticed:
Anita Kravos, there for her role in
La Grande Belleza, the latest offering from Paolo Sorrentino; the actors
Denis Ménochet and
Jean-Pierre Martins, from David Perrault’s
Nos Héros Sont Morts ce Soir, in the Critics’ Week;
Julia Garner, appearing in
We Are What We Are from Jim Mickle, in the Directors’ Fortnight;
Julie De Bona, for Jamel Debbouze’s film
Né Quelque Part;
Béatrice Rosen, who will be appearing in the series
Backstrom and
The Saint and
Fawaz Gruosi, founder of the jewellers De Grisogono. Franck Provost was their stylist.
As for the latest in the glamour ratings, we love the superb plunging neckline of the 50-something everyone – or almost everyone – wants to look like: Sharon Stone opted for a dress from her friend
Roberto Cavalli and jewels by
De Grisogono. And we also admired
Dita Von Teese and her perfect wave and
Rosario Dawson, sporting the Side Hair trend! Both were sparkling in
Avakian jewels. They wore respectively; fine jewellery earrings set with rubies, diamonds and pearls and a unique bangle set with 40 white and 20 yellow diamonds!
In summary – two glittering days!
