SHAPING FUTURES
is an international social initiative which gathers Schwarzkopf Professional and SOS Villages d’Enfants, the biggest world non-profit organization which welcomes orphans and abandoned children.
This year, the project will take place from the 5 of August to the 14 of September 2013
in Gammarth in Tunisia, in partnership with SOS Villages d’enfants.
This nonprofit initiative is an amazing human experience which will enable young underprivileged adults to become hairdresser and thus improve their chances in the future.
Our inspiration for this project comes from a similar initiative ‘Cut to Shape’ launched in Japan in 2008, in order to enable volunteers to teach hairdressing to the street children in Cambodia. Its success encouraged us to extend this project at an international level.
Shaping Futures enabled underprivileged adults to take up this profession: hairdressing. This initiative gives them knowledge and necessary help to get through difficulties, develop their potential and boost life chances.
For Schwarzkopf Professional, it is a real pleasure to work with SOS Villages d’Enfants.
Thanks to our world network where you can find professionals and a certain trust from Hairdressing World, our renown knowledge during training and our belief in education capacity which can change lives, we brought our knowledge and our passion to this partnership. Our collaboration enabled to set up an innovative program which can change forever the life of numerous young persons.
OUR PROGRAM
Enabling change
The first four training years are to advice and guide the young with apprenticeship of hairdressing basis.
We start with essential knowledge, the principle of hygiene, the control of the comb and the scissors, the haircut, the drying and the finishing step. The mentoring ends up with the techniques of standards haircuts like the bob, the layered cut.
During the four weeks second session, the young will reinforce and broaden their basic knowledge and learn additional haircut techniques wich are more sophisticated.
At the end of each training, each student will receive a diploma ‘
Shaping Futures Cutting & Styling Skills ´ as recognition of their competences.
The apprenticeship of these techniques is just the fisrt step for these young persons. We know that if they want to practice and to improve themselves, they will need tools. Thus, each student receives a briefcase containing the necessary equipment to perfect themselves.
As we want to make a difference in time, we work with
SOS Villages d’Enfants and one of our local organizations
Schwarzkopf Professional in order to provide apprenticeships, a support and trainings so that each student dispose of all the opportunities to develop themselves in hairdressing world.
Shaping Futures is based on the concept ‘partner country’ which means that each
SOS Villages d’Enfants in which takes place the apprenticeship, is supported by a partner country in which
Schwarzkopf Professional is in charge to raise money, provide necessary materials and seek partner hairdressers.
